Now I’ve heard of places here in the USA where, to be politically correct, they are going to stop having their officers carry. That is Barney Fife kind of thinking.
It seems as though we are taking away our protector's ability to protect us. Without some type of deterrent anyone on the street is better suited to stop crime in progress. Check out the American Hunter Magazine published by the National Rifle Association. Inside are stories about people who had to protect themselves from intruders, purse grabbers and 7-11 robbers. They had a weapon, knew how to use it and did.
Taking weapons out of the hands of our police force, like they have in France and England, would in essence castrate them. An officer's duty is to serve and protect the people, but in situations where they face imminent danger, their hands are tied. Without their firearms these guardians of the peace risk it all when they can't de-escalate a dangerous encounter.
There are over 780,000 police officers across the country that deserve recognition for their service on a daily basis. Show your support for law enforcement and let them know you appreciate their service.
