With a daily news cycle filled with instances of crime and even terror, William says that “Training Grounds” creates an avenue for people to learn solid skills that enable them to better protect themselves, those that they love and even the people around them. Nobody wants to be a victim so it makes sense to seek out training to better equip yourself with the skills necessary to neutralize a threat or walk away from a dangerous situation.
Drawing from the experience and knowledge of leaders in our Military, Ex-Military, Security, and Law Enforcement, William says that experts in a variety of different skills and disciplines come to the show to teach not only him, but the viewers as well, the fundamentals of self-defense. In Season One of “Training Grounds” viewers will have an opportunity to see the basic fundamentals of pistols, AR platforms, shotguns and breaching, night shooting, suppressors, barricades, long distance marksmanship, shoot houses or close quarters combat, hand-to-hand combat, and more.
William says it’s not possible to be an expert in every field of self-defense, however it’s smart to take what you can from pros in several different areas, understand the basic fundamentals and then continue to educate yourself, train and build upon those fundamental skills. In taking a jack of all trades kind of approach, it broadens your skill set and better prepares you for a variety of real life situations you could face. “Training Grounds” brings those experts to your screen, but also makes it possible to train with them in person at a special training facility.
Not all self-defense is about physical skill, but rather being able to observe the world around you and identify potential threats. Whether you are at church, the grocery store, a sporting event, the bar or somewhere else, the ability to look at your surroundings and identify potential threats can help you avoid dangerous situations or give you a leg up should something happen. William says in truth, many horrible stories you see on the news could be avoided with some basic training and understanding of how to avoid dangerous situations in the first place. Furthermore, they could turn out a lot differently if civilians were prepared for what to do in a precarious situation.
Take your safety seriously and learn from those who have made a career protecting civilians in the most inhospitable situations on a daily basis. Be sure to watch “Training Grounds”, exclusively on Sportsman Channel Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. ET.
