In urban and suburban settings, these accessories can safeguard you and your vehicle, both front bumper and back, from other drivers who are riding a little too close. In a country setting, these accessories can prevent extreme damage to your vehicle if an animal happens to step in front of your path. There is no doubt that having, at the minimum, a grille guard installed on your vehicle can really help you out. This week on The Revolution, Jerry Courtney from Ranch Hand joins us with an in-depth look at grille guards and bumpers and talks about the practical applications and benefits of installing these accessories on your truck or SUV.
For more than 30 years, Ranch Hand has been manufacturing grille guards, front and back bumpers and other accessories from the great state of Texas. Jerry tells Jim and Trav that the original idea and application for replacement bumpers was for ranchers and those with hard work in front of them. While the function hasn’t changed, the demographic has. It’s not just ranchers who want and need protection anymore, it’s daily drivers everywhere. Tune in as Jerry walks us through several different Ranch Hand offerings like the Legend Series, Summit Series and Horizon Series products.
The Legend Series front and back bumpers offer strength for ¾ ton and larger trucks as they are constructed of 4” schedule 40 pipe and diamond plate steel. From this same series, you’ll also find the Legend Grille Guard which is for ½ ton trucks and larger. This is the same grille guard that I recently installed on my Ford F-150 and couldn’t be happier with. It is one fully welded piece of steel that mounts to the frame of the truck to give your front-end strength and protection. Jerry will talk about the benefits that come from the Legend Series products, the versatility of the 2” receiver hitch in the front bumper and how the loops around the headlights can save you some serious cash.
The Summit Series Front Bumper was designed for ½ ton trucks and larger. Jerry says that it provides fantastic protection but is lighter weight and made of formed steel instead of the schedule 40 pipe. The Horizon Series is made of smooth steel and used to be for show trucks. However, the 7-gauge steel gives it strength and durability and the smooth steel also provides a sleek look that is increasingly popular with drivers.
Front end protection is fantastic, but for a more complete protective overhaul of your vehicle, Ranch Hand also offers back bumpers. Jerry will highlight their back bumper offerings that add not only strength but function, as well, with integrated LED lights, built in steps and more. To better illustrate how important a back bumper can be, Jerry talks with Jim and Trav about a recent customer testimonial from a man who was rear-ended while he was at a complete stop, by another driver going 70 miles per hour. The impact forced him into a semi-trailer in front of him and crushed the rear end of his truck – however he was able to walk away.
