Recently back from a trip south of the border, Steve was in Sonora, Mexico hunting Coues deer. Pushing past the border 2 ½ hours, Steve says it's excellent Coues deer country. While FarWide is a great platform for finding outdoor information and maps for the U.S., does the app work in another country, like Mexico? Steve says, "yes" it really does and he was able to utilize the features several times in order to pinpoint where he was, get a lay for the land and use the topo features as well.
The FarWide App is a comprehensive tool for outdoorsmen and women that provides advanced mapping features and tools, landowner information, private and public land boundaries, a unique social media platform, access to digital media like online videos, game and fishing regulations and data, online shopping, weather and more. Apps with similar mapping functions exist, but subscribers must pay a significant monthly or yearly premium. FarWide on the other hand is completely free to all users. There are no in-app purchases or surprise charges in order to access information. The app is free to use, through and through, Steve says. If you enjoy the outdoors, this will give you all the data you need before, during and after your outdoor adventures. Users can look up and see where the nearest boat launch is in their area, they can stay legal and look up hunting and fishing regulations, get a feel for the lay of the land, use the GPS mapping feature to plan out a trail and more. Steve says he has been able to see the app in action several times. This past November he headed to Montana, and prior to leaving he was able to download the applicable maps and then find elk distribution information and hunter success rates based on the built in features of the app. If you don't have a lot of time to scout, Steve says, the FarWide app provides access to a lot of different information before you ever leave home.
