Cool weather is inevitably on its way, and in preparation, CatDaddy is trying to get the freezer stocked up with bait for the coming months with crappie, crappie guts and crappie heads. Listen in as CatDaddy, owner and guide at CatDaddy's Catfishing Adventures, joins The Revolution to talk about the value of crappie and shad guts.
CatDaddy says he has a feeling that the fishing in the coming months, and into the new year, is going to be really great. In order to stay on top of that action, he is socking away crappie guts in the freezer. Crappie guts and heads make for great bait, but CatDaddy says not all guts are created equal. When it comes to enticing the catfish bite, crappie guts are good, but they don't hold a candle to fresh shad guts. CatDaddy says fresh shad have an irresistible permeating bloody scent, nice soft flesh, and the shad gizzard lends itself well to securing the bait to the hook. Great for early spring, late summer, fall and beyond - CatDaddy says shad really have no seasonal limitations in the way of bait effectiveness making them a great year round choice.
As cool weather systems push through, CatDaddy says anglers need to beware of the wind that can come with them. CatDaddy says venturing out on large bodies of water in windy conditions can be very dangerous and he reminds anglers to always wear their personal floatation devices. If it's too windy to get out on the water, CatDaddy says to look for bank fishing opportunities instead. Fishing wind laden banks can pay off in a big way on blowing days, he says.
Trav is a small town kid driven by hunting, fishing, rock/honky-tonk music, cold beer and his wife and kids. Being raised in a rural area surrounded by wildlife and lacking the luxurious amenities of big city life might be challenging to some; however, to Trav, it was an utter blessing. From his inception on, Trav has spent his life outdoors, he was taught at a very young age to hunt and fish and over the years these skills have molded him into a self-sufficient outdoorsman that strives to live a sustainable and God fearing lifestyle. When Trav isn’t behind the mic he’s either in the woods or on the water sharing his passion and love for the outdoors with his family and friends. So, don't bother searching for him online and you couldn’t pay him to own an iPhone, but let me reassure you of this: If there’s hunting and fishing, cold beer on tap and shaving isn’t required, he’s certainly not too far. What you see is what you get with Trav and to sum him up is simple, he doesn’t ask for a lot and he’ll never need much, a rifle, a bow, the love of his good looking wife and to be all that his children will ever need!
