Plus, the new Super Duty also boasts best-in-class diesel power and torque with the available 6.7-liter Power Stroke® diesel V8 delivering 475 horsepower and 1,050 ft.-lbs and best-in-class gas power and torque from the all-new available 7.3-liter V8 delivering 430 horsepower and 475 ft.-lbs. Finally, it features best-in-class maximum payload capacity of 7,850 pounds with the standard 6.2-liter gas engine. The new 2020 Super Duty has been built to impress and perform, no doubt. Tom says the real key point though is that whether or not you get the maximum tow truck or maximum payload truck, Ford has made improvements across the entirety of their lineup. So, each F-250, F-350 and F-450, regardless of whether they are gas or diesel, has had significant improvements made to towing and hauling and every driver will get to experience these improvements.
When it comes to power, Tom says it’s all about the combination of the all-new heavy-duty 10-speed TorqShift® automatic transmission paired with the solid engine offerings of the 6.2-liter V8, 7.3-liter V8 and 6.7-liter Power Stroke® diesel V8. For 2020, he notes that the 6.7L Power Stroke® diesel V8 got some pretty significant upgrades to improve the overall efficiency, reliability, performance and power. He also briefly spotlights the new 7.3-liter V8 for its low end torque and ability to fill the gap for customers who don’t quite need the capability of a diesel, but are still towing/hauling heavy loads.
In addition to tremendous power and capability, the 2020 Super Duty is also diving in deeper and offering more technology and features that make traveling/towing/hauling easier, safer and more comfortable. Tom says that Pro Trailer Backup Assist, is making its debut on the 2020 Super Duty lineup. This system makes it easier to navigate trailers by using a knob on the dash to steer instead of using the steering wheel itself. If you want your trailer to go right, you turn the knob right - same thing for the left. The Trailer Reverse Guidance system works in tandem with the backup assist helping drivers negotiate their trailers through a view in the reverse camera that also provides trailer angle, direction and more. Tom says that this kind of technology is not only convenient for frequent towers, but it’s also helpful for those who aren’t well versed in towing and can use the extra help. Tom also highlights other great features available on most trim levels like BLIS®, Lane Keeping Alert, Pre-Collision Assist, and Fordpass™ Connect 4G Wi-Fi Modem which gives drivers the ability to unlock/lock/remote start the vehicle from their phone and also provides a Wi-Fi Hotspot that allows up to 10 devices to connect at once when they’re within 50 feet of the vehicle.
It’s hard to improve on something that is already great, but the Tremor Off-Road Package pushes the envelope even further with the new 2020 Super Duty making it the most capable off-road Super Duty ever. In order to earn a title like that, Ford had to deliver new hardware, technology and features suited to rough terrain all the while maintaining the capability in towing and payload that the Super Duty is known for. From the outset, the most visually obvious part of the Tremor package are the huge 35-inch diameter Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac maximum-traction tires that are mounted on 18-inch matte black wheels. Tom says they listened to customers and found that many Super Duty buyers were making the switch to larger wheels and tires, among other customizations, within six months of buying a truck. For that reason, Ford wanted to be able to offer that option to buyers straight from the factory. In addition to the tires, the Tremor package boasts a 2-inch front-end lift and shorter air dam which all works together to provide almost 11-inches of ground clearance. Tom says the Tremor package is also equipped with larger shocks, locking rear differential with electronic shift-on-the-fly engagement and a new Dana® limited-slip front differential, selectable drive modes including a new rock-crawl mode and more. In addition, a factory installed WARN winch can also be added as an option to the Tremor package. Tom says this is a really great offering for those looking to add a winch to their truck. Because it is engineered and factory installed, the winch will work on all models, gas or diesel, and will also work seamlessly with adaptive cruise control. On top of everything else, the Tremor package offers best-in-class water fording of up to 33-inches. Together all of the features in the Tremor Off-Road package really speak to those who use their trucks for not just work, but also for recreation. Go hunting, fishing, or camping. Haul boats, trailers or campers. Take on challenging off-road terrain. Tom says the Tremor package is a really great addition to the already capable Super Duty for those that are using their trucks in a variety of different applications.
