Tommy Gomes is something of a local legend in San Diego, California. His long and storied history in the commercial fishing scene of San Diego has seen him in many different roles from professional tuna fisherman, fish cutter, fishmonger, educator, nonprofit founder, outspoken champion of local and sustainable seafood, as well as promoter of responsible fishing practices and zero-waste consumption. His contributions to the commercial fishing industry can't be understated. Today, it's his mission to get the freshest seafood to restaurants and dinner tables and a big part of that is educating people on the good quality American harvested seafood. Premiering March 1st is a new show on Outdoor Channel called "The Fishmonger" hosted by Tommy Gomes. The 8 episode series will include conversations with fishermen, live fishing footage, cooking demos and more in order to showcase the farmers of the sea who work hard to bring the freshest seafood to the dinner table. Tommy joins The Revolution this week to discuss his new show, the importance of the commercial fishing industry, the challenges it faces and how education can help people rediscover fresh, delicious, healthy, American harvested seafood.
As an arctic blast pushing its way through the country this week, CatDaddy says it has driven him off the water and into the garage. When you can't cast a line, the next best thing is to work on your equipment. CatDaddy has long been a fan of taking a DIY approach to making his own lead sinkers, jigs and more. Using molds from Do-it Molds he can replenish his tackle box with what he uses the most for just pennies on the dollar. The process of melting lead and pouring your own jigs and sinkers isn't complicated, it just requires some time. However, CatDaddy doesn't stop with tackle, he also pours his own anchors. Jeremiah Voithofer is a Pennsylvania native that cut his teeth in the outdoors through the long standing hunting traditions of the Keystone State. He spent nearly a decade as a hunting guide in Illinois and now he is documenting his passion and providing a window into his hunting centric world via "MTN Top Outdoors" on Sportsman Channel, Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. ET. Jeremiah started out the 2020 big game season with a hefty goal, to rack up 1,000 inches of bone in a single season. Was he able to make good on that lofty goal? We'll find out this week on The Revolution. Jeremiah will also talk long range muzzleloader and rifle hunting for whitetails.
