Reports indicate that bait and tackle stores across the country are experiencing shortages of bait. People everywhere are ready to get out of the house and fishing is a great activity that allows people to get outside, keep their distance from others and have a lot of fun. CatDaddy is The Revolution's resident catfishing expert and he says anglers short on bait should look to the water for their bait instead. Get your net out and catch your own bait, he says while noting that he has been stocking up on nice shad recently.
Although it's not even summer yet, many hunters are ready for the sights and sounds of fall hunting seasons after having been quarantined inside their homes for months. Whitetails in particular are the most sought after and hunted big game animal in North America. A large percentage of whitetail hunters take on the challenge of hunting public land, but success when hunting in public spaces is far from guaranteed. North American Whitetail is helping hunters get a jump on the fall hunting season a little early this year with their annual DIY Special Issue that offers insight on whitetail hotspots and effective tactics to use. Haynes Shelton is the Associate Editor of North American Whitetail, Associate Producer of North American Whitetail TV and Editor of Hog Hunting Magazine and he joins The Revolution this week to dish on the North American Whitetail Annual DIY Issue that is now on newsstands. Plus, he'll talk hog hunting.
Are you ready to get outside? This pandemic experience has been tough on everyone, but if there is a silver lining it could be that it has brought families back together again and has also renewed an interest in spending time outdoors. There are a lot of great ways to recreate outdoors, one of which is to spend your time on 2 or 4 wheels riding trails. Steve Nessl is Yamaha Motorsports' Marketing Manager and he joins The Revolution this week to talk off-roading, exploring the backcountry in Yamaha ATV's and side-by-sides and funding the future access of off-road accessible lands and trails.
Catfishing isn't always about hooking into trophy size bottom dwellers. Sometimes, catfishing is all about eating! Catfish are excellent eaters that can be grilled, baked, pan-fried and more popularly, deep fried. If you're trying to hook something to put on the plate, put your trophy aspirations aside and instead set your sights on smaller catfish.

Minnesota is the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" and as such the fishing potential there is virtually limitless. For walleye and bass fishing anglers, it's a hard place to beat. "Obviously the smallmouth fishing is tremendous but the largemouth is world class. In fact, if you're looking for a place to put 3 to 5-pound bass in the boat, Minnesota is probably the best in the country," Steve Pennaz says. Steve is the host of "Lake Commandos" on Sportsman Channel, Sundays at 10:30 a.m. ET and he joins The Revolution this week with tips for fishing new water and catching more walleye.
A decent amount of rain has been falling in Eastern Kansas recently and as a result the spillways are spewing with water. It's in these rough and rocky areas of the water that CatDaddy says the catfish are fighting and biting. "The blue cats are wild right now," he says, and CatDaddy is itching to get out on the water and hammer the monster blues.

Are you a long range hunter and shooter? While many hunters have turned to archery citing the challenge it presents, long range hunting and shooting likewise offers a great challenge. The ability to hunt beyond 500 yards and kill an animal with precision is a skill that requires patience and dedication. Jordan Walsh is a long range hunting pro and the host of "The Riflemen", Saturdays, 9 p.m. ET on Sportsman Channel. He joins The Revolution this week to talk bear hunting, trophy whitetails and long range hunting.
There are 101 reasons to hunt and fish, but one of the most important is the food it provides. Roughly 40% of hunters say that their most important reason for hunting is, "for the meat". Based on the fallout of the coronavirus and how it is impacting the meat and food supply chain in this country, it's very likely the number of hunters out there filling tags this year, "for the meat", will increase significantly. Meat processing plant closures, meat shortages, limits on purchases and hefty price increases have people thinking about alternative ways to put meat in their freezers. Hunting and fishing provides people the opportunity to become more self-sufficient in procuring their food as it's a reliable and consistent way to secure protein, even in times of economic chaos and health emergencies.
