This week Fred joins The Revolution with an extended interview and will begin with pelt care. Fred says that finishing furs is somewhat of a lost art, however it allows hunters to generate some revenue and also doesn’t let an animal go to waste when you harvest them. He’ll talk about case skinning coyotes, the tedious task of working around the head and eyes and how to sew your pelts. He’ll also explain how much value you add to your furs by skinning, stretching and drying them yourself before selling them to the fur buyer. Stay tuned for Part 2 of Fred’s interview as he dives into mountain lion hunting. Mountain lion hunting is challenging both physically and mentally and Fred tells Jim and Trav that hunters need to be well prepared ahead of time. He’ll discuss what makes mountain lions apex predators and the misconception that they only target sick and weak animals. Listen in as he hands out tips for hunting behind dogs, looking at sign to determine what kind of lion you are tracking and how to avoid undesirable late-night hunting situations.
