Deer prefer some water sources more than others and Gordon explains why swiftly moving water isn’t usually their first choice. The noise created by the running water, and also the movement, can interfere with their senses making it more difficult to not only hear, but also to detect movement that could be a potential threat. Instead, deer tend to frequent water holes without as many disturbances, and this is where creating water sources on your property is not only a good management tool but can work to your advantage as huntable patterns are established en route to your water source. Gordon will talk about practical ways to create water sources that are stable and dependable including some artificial systems that are gravity fed and supply water as needed. Finally, Gordon will highlight the June issue of North American Whitetail with a special section on trail cameras as the growing season for deer starts to heat up.
