Geoff Nemnich has been an outdoor enthusiast his entire life and his addiction for calling coyotes started more than 18 years ago. As a member of Cabela’s Pro Staff and a contributing writer for Predator Xtreme magazine, he spends numerous days in the field each season and is extremely passionate about sharing his love for coyote hunting with others. Each year, Geoff travels throughout the West filming coyotes hunts for the Coyote Craze DVD series and has the privilege of teaching new coyote hunters his tricks of the trade while conducting classes at the only predator hunting instructional school in the country. Geoff has 2 boys, Creighton and Carver, and being able to share his love for the outdoors with them has been an extremely rewarding experience. For more information visit www.coyotecraze.com.
Choosing a Call: Hand Calls - vs - Electronic Calls
by Geoff Nemnich
Probably the single most important piece of gear a predator hunter takes to the field is a call. Whether it’s a high-end electronic call or a basic hand call, each has its own set of advantages as well as limitations. Looking at different factors such as budget, location you’ll be hunting, what you’ll be using your call to hunt, and weather conditions you’ll be hunting in are just a few of the factors to consider when making your decision.
Extend Your Hunting Season: Take Up Predator Hunting
by Geoff Nemnich
It’s in your nature to be the dominant predator. So why not claim your spot on the top of the food chain? Join the fast growing number of sportsman that head to the field each year in pursuit of the thrill and the excitement predator hunting offers! No matter where you live in North America, chances are you have coyotes, fox or bobcats living within a stone’s throw of your favorite deer stand, turkey roost, elk camp or antelope blind. With liberal limits and long seasons, predator hunting gives you a chance to extend your hunting season long after the bugles have subsided and the rattling antlers have ceased.
Getting Into Position
by Geoff Nemnich
A major key to calling in coyotes is being able to sneak into your calling position without the coyotes in the area knowing you're there. Coyotes have an unbelievable sense of hearing, more than four times better than the average hunter! Walk into your stand only as far as you need to and no further. As soon as your vehicle is hidden from the calling area, start looking for a spot to set up. In some cases this may be 50 yards, in others in may be 500.
