The Cabela’s Ultimate Alaknak™ 12-ft. x 12-ft. Tent has a large footprint to begin with, but the space is maximized inside. With 4-foot side walls and a 9’6” center peak there is plenty of head room and it makes movement and tasks inside the tent easier. This tent sports the spaciousness that wall tents provide. Supported with 10 perimeter poles and a center support pole, a tent cloth made of a highly breathable, UV-resistant, waterproof material constructs the walls, roof and floor. This rugged tent cloth has a high tear strength while also providing fire, abrasion and puncture resistance, as well. The support poles and fabric hold up well, even in high wind and nasty weather conditions. This isn’t just a plain four wall tent, but the frame also is customized to include an awning over the door. Starting at the peak, the frame is designed to direct runoff away from the door keeping the wet weather out and the inside of the tent as dry as possible. If campers want a larger awning, a separate vestibule can be purchased and added on to the tent essentially creating a large porch to keep your boots and other gear outside the tent, all the while keeping them dry.
It’s also large enough you could put a folding chair underneath and sit while still being protected from the elements. The door and three tent windows have mesh panels behind them that allow you to keep air circulating without letting bugs in. Unlike a traditional wall tent, the Alaknak has a floor built in. This provides a layer between you and the ground, sealing off extra dirt, bugs, moisture and even critters. The great thing is that the floor has a zip open panel that can be opened up for those that want to use a heat stove to keep the tent warm. Not only does the floor zip away for safety and function with a heat stove, but there is also a 5" stove jack in the roof with roll-away storm flap for safe use. This is an incredible setup. You can pick it up, as well as add-ons like the vestibule at both Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops.
