New for 2021 is the TenPoint 2021 Havoc RS440 crossbow. Christian says this Havoc is a really great reverse draw crossbow that produces lightning fast shooting speeds of 440 fps. It's really compact, really light weight and really well balanced, he says. But one of the most intriguing parts of this bow is its Garmin XERO scope that offers 3.5X magnification and has the ability to range targets and almost instantly provide dead-on aiming points at ranges up to 80 yards. The laser rangefinder provides ranging capabilities but also provides precise aim points for spot on aiming while in the field. So, no more multi reticle scopes and no more deciding how far in between hash marks you need to aim, Christian says. Just aim, hit the button, get the aiming point and then hit the trigger. It's that simple. No need to gap in between your pins anymore, this scope offers more consistency and precision for crossbow hunters.
Next, Christian talks about the growing trend of tree saddle hunting. Although tree saddles are new to a lot of hunters, Christian says they've actually been around for decades. As with anything else, trends come and go and in the end everything old becomes new again. The same holds true for tree saddles. In the last ten years, a new generational wave of bowhunters have become very interested in hunting back country public lands. These hunters are often seeking out areas way off the beaten path, or the "steep and deep", as Christian says. For that reason, these hunters are also trying to cut weight from their packs. If they don't have to pack in heavy tree stands, blinds and accessories, they would prefer not to. Saddles typically weigh a pound or less making them easier to pack and use. They're also safe as they keep hunters securely attached to their lineman's belt as soon as their feet leave the ground. Tree saddles are a great tool for hunters to put in their arsenal of hunting tricks and one that Christian has recently tested out for himself. He talks briefly about a late September DIY hunt last fall, where he was able to use a tree saddle successfully for the first time and take a deer.
