This week, CatDaddy is taking advantage of the summer wind and is doing some drift fishing. Utilizing 4 and 6 foot drift stocks, CatDaddy says he is drifting at a speed of ½ to 1 mile per hour with fresh caught shad. Speed is key, he says. You don't want to drift too fast and pull the bait in front of the fish, leaving them in the dust. Instead you want the fish to feel like they have the advantage to dart around your bait before eventually swallowing it. Searching out areas that have drop offs and ledges and deep water flats, CatDaddy says he can often drift from one side of the lake to the other, and clear up to areas near the shoreline. Utilizing this technique, CatDaddy says he is consistently hooking nice 5 to 15 pound catfish.
