Dedicated to Scott - who took me hunting and showed me what not to do.
When it comes to hunting, I’m willing to try anything. I love learning new techniques and ways other people hunt. And recently, that is just what I did. I took a quick last-minute trip, to the corn fields of eastern Colorado, where I got in one last pheasant hunt of the season. By last minute, I mean, I didn’t know I’d be able to go until 30 minutes before it was time to leave. I went home, threw my box of Federals into a bag with the rest of my gear, grabbed my gun and ran out the door. I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn’t that I would be hunting with almost 50 other hunters, 46 to be exact. There were 19 trucks and a van. It was a true hunting party. I’ve never seen anything like it. It was amazing to meet more people in the hunting community and spend the days scouring corn fields and talking with new people. In the group of 50, it was nice to see there were some other women partaking in the excitement.
There aren’t that many truly wild places left on the earth, destinations where you are completely surrounded by nothing but wilderness. Those are the kind of places where civilization is an afterthought and you can only rely on yourself, your ingenuity and the possessions you have with you to survive. Some people are born for this kind of adventure and crave it, others only dream about it. Chris and Casey Keefer are adrenaline junkies, outdoor lovers and adventure seekers that thrive in this sort of environment. As the hosts of the popular series “Dropped” on Outdoor Channel, each and every season the Keefers are left to fend for themselves in a new and challenging environment with just the few supplies they have on their backs.
Every once in a while, a game changer comes along. The freaks of nature, world record monster bucks, just don’t step out very often. However, this is one of those moments. The Brewster Buck is set to take its seat on the throne as the top non-typical bow kill of all-time and the top hunter harvested whitetail of all time. With a gross score of 330 0/8 inches and a net score of 320 ⅝ inches, this Illinois bruiser taken by Luke Brewster is making waves and setting records. Gordon Whittington is the Editor in Chief of North American Whitetail magazine, charter team member and regular contributor to “North American Whitetail TV” and he joins The Revolution this week to talk about the Brewster Buck, the largest buck ever taken by a hunter in North America.
Anytime is a good time to teach kids about firearms and firearm safety. It’s believed that there are more than 393 million civilian owned firearms in the U.S. Furthermore, polls conducted in 2017 concluded that more than 42% of people in this country live in households with guns. It’s great to see such a large portion of our population armed. Responsibility comes with owning firearms and if you have a child in your life the onus is on you to teach them the fundamentals of safe firearm handling. Here, I’ll break down some basic tenants of firearm safety that you should be teaching the kids in your life.
If you have to give credit where credit is due, then the creators of “Wile E. Coyote” didn’t portray that cunning, four legged predator in a very favorable light. Coyotes are highly intelligent, adaptive animals that require 2a tremendous amount of skill to kill consistently. However, if you have the right tools and know-how, you’ll be stacking up fur in no time. So, here I’ll run through some common mistakes to avoid, scouting strategies and how to go about making effective stands. Let’s kill some yotes!
Do you actively manage the predators in your area?

They’re also getting a jump start on spring and bringing tips for turkey hunters on getting your gear ready and the crucial role that scouting plays in your spring gobbler success.
Geoff Nemnich is a coyote hunting master, calling ace and shooting pro. In short, he is the one coyotes fear and other hunters want to be like. Geoff is the founder of Coyote Craze and he joins us today with timely tips for knocking down the coyotes that are prowling your home range.
Now that hunting season is over, it gives me a chance to reflect back on my season’s successes. I’m not viewing success as harvesting animals, but what I’ve learned and am still learning about being a hunter. There are always chances to learn more and do more; I am in no way an expert. I am a woman who enjoys being outdoors, having new experiences, and challenging myself.
